Life’s Warrior
Baleful Mars,
Stares unblinking,
Through starving barren branches.
He judges me unworthy,
To course the velvet winter night,
Untested in bloody battle
Ageless contempt radiates inward.
A callow adolescent,
I avert my gaze,
Challenge his influence sheepishly,
Steal away regardless,
In self delusion,
That he might not notice.

Tonight Mars is closer than it has been - and probably will be – for sixty thousand years. Puts some perspective on things down here I suppose
