Lady Amelia

Lady Amelia

Daughter of privilege,

Tell me your tale,

Sing to me of discovering true love,

Whisper the secrets you shared.

Was it rebellion that sent you to him?

Were you drawn to his raw, unreachable charm?

How did you dare cross the class chasm?

To give all away,

For him?

Did you regret?

Did he?

Did your eternal passion endure?

Did you survive love’s demands?

Sing to me Amelia,

Tell me your story fair lady,

For I still see your dedication,

In your daughters’ smiling eyes.

In your sons,

The folly of idealism,

The falling for a kind hand,

Endures eternally.

Whisper to me

Lady Amelia.

Several generations back, A young woman who i believe from research was Jane Austen's niece and the daughter of Lord Leigh from Stonely Abbey, in Warwickshire England, eloped with a commoner millhand named Nunns  - the only child in her family that married for love rather than position. She was disinherited.  Lady Amelia is my great great great something grandmother.
