Gleaming Green Eyes

Gleaming Green Eyes

There she sits,

Gleaming green eyes,

Buried in whiskers and hair

So lazy, so relaxed,

She lies! She is tricky!

She watches your every move

She is stalking her prey,

Her claws are steel edged razors,

She sits in wait – for you!

She rolls over innocently,

“Come play with me!”

“I love a nice pat.”

Don’t do it!

She is tricking you,

Luring you into her furry trap

STOP!

Don’t do it!

Don’t stroke her!

She will shred your hand,

Into a million skinny ribbons!

She strikes like black lightning,

She is a deadly player,

She is Buffy,

The pretty tom-cat slayer!

This is the bones of a children's book I would love to do. The villain is Buffy, the tomcat slayer who, at eleven years old is still one cute but deadly fluffball

My Father, my reflection

My Father, My Reflection

It was the expression

The way that I walked

It was his eyes

I saw looking back

Taken aback

Tides

Tides

Life sweeps in torrid tides,

Ebb and flow,

Ebb and flow.

She drags she swamps, she breaks, she sighs,

Ebb and flow,

Ebb and flow.

Unrelentingfaint hearts she seeks,

Swish and swirl,

Swish and swirl.

Her calm belies deep stormy peaks,

Swish and swirl,

Swish and swirl.

Her bounty vast beyond man’s price,

Crash and boom,

Crash and boom.

Take your chances, roll her dice,

Crash and boom,

Crash and boom.

Her victims lay broken on crags and rocks,

Hiss and foam,

Hiss and foam.

Victors sail breezes to her distant docks,

Hiss and foam,

Hiss and foam.

Stand still, stand long that she may show,

Ebb and flow,

Ebb and flow.

Her rythym, her moods, her depths, her glow,

Ebb and flow,

Ebb and flow.

I Dream

I Dream…

I dream of passionate embraces,

The joy of seeing my love,

As though we have just met,

A delicate touch and look that tells me,

I am desirable and desired in her eyes.

I dream of testing my creativity,

Of letting my raw discoveries take flight,

Unfettered, unhurt by disdain,

Free to soar to the stars.

I dream of helping others discover their potential,

In ways they never dreamed,

In ways I would like for myself.

I dream of capturing the essence of humanity,

In the photograph of a child’s face,

I dream of watching my children dance,

In loving freedom abandon,

Happy to invite me to dance with their children.

I dream of sharing ideas excitedly,

Gently stretching my bounds one minute,

Curling up in relaxed comfort the next,

Secure that my landing will be safe,

To muse on stories and learnings with my friends.

I dream of making my love laugh,

Of touching her hair and feeling the warmth,

Of comfortable intimacy,

Of making love adventurously,

Giving myself to her pleasure,

Of unconditionally receiving without fear,

Feeling safe in her arms.

I dream of financial comfort for myself and my family,

To be free of bills, worry and time,

To work passionately for love of what I do,

To be well rewarded for the gifts I give, the energy I bring,

To be unconditionally generous,

In my heart and soul and pockets.

I want to smile uncontrollably,

Cheekily delighting in life’s wonders,

Like a wide eyed little boy,

Who has just jumped over his first puddle unaided.

I want to be strong, dependable and caring,

I want to say the wrong things by mistake,

Be able to apologise and feel okay,

I want to know I have made a positive difference,

Learned how to give with joy, lived in love,

And most of all,

I want to laugh when I die.

More a mission statement than a poem.

Lady Amelia

Lady Amelia

Daughter of privilege,

Tell me your tale,

Sing to me of discovering true love,

Whisper the secrets you shared.

Was it rebellion that sent you to him?

Were you drawn to his raw, unreachable charm?

How did you dare cross the class chasm?

To give all away,

For him?

Did you regret?

Did he?

Did your eternal passion endure?

Did you survive love’s demands?

Sing to me Amelia,

Tell me your story fair lady,

For I still see your dedication,

In your daughters’ smiling eyes.

In your sons,

The folly of idealism,

The falling for a kind hand,

Endures eternally.

Whisper to me

Lady Amelia.

30 Aug. 03

Several generations back, A young woman who i believe from research was Jane Austen's niece and the daughter of Lord Leigh from Stonely Abbey, in Warwickshire England, eloped with a commoner millhand named Nunns  - the only child in her family that married for love rather than position. She was disinherited.  Lady Amelia is my great great great something grandmother.

Olympus

Olympus

Which goddess is she,

Sashaying before my eyes,

Draped in mortal form?

Despite donning her fair disguise,

Her divinity radiates,

Overwhelming my every sense

What dream did swift Mercury snatch?

What supplication of sweet desire,

Was flung to the universe from my soul’s depths?

What mischevious deities,

Wove her into my life’s tapestry,

With golden threads?

For I am swept on an Olympic oddysey,

Soaring on mighty eagle’s wings,

I have been given a lion’s roar,

Hercules’ unswerving courage,

To prove my worth in her presence.

While my base heart quails,

At the peril laid ahead,

I am her eternal captive.

She holds my life and heart,

With carefree laughing smiles,

Her willing warrior,

I will conquer all.

Galaxy

Galaxy

Flaming suns fade

White hot clouds cool to mere motes

Sky spanning rainbow nebulae pale

When I am in you
